Meet the Staff

Teacher Melissa

This will be my third year having the privilege of being the owner and teacher at Discovery Nursery School.  I graduated from Lethbridge Community College with honors in Early Childhood Education in 2006. I worked in a daycare when I graduated and then in 2007 opened a day home which I ran for 14 years. During that time, I got married to my husband Mike and we have been blessed with two daughters, Janessa, and Claire.

I enjoy planning meaningful play areas based on the children’s interests and different themes around the classroom. I love watching children have “ah-ha” moments as they learn through play.

Mrs. Tracy

(Tuesday Thursday Morning and Afternoon Class)

I have been part of the Discovery family for over 20 years as my own children attended and as staff. I love watching how the children grow and gain confidence in their abilities. It is amazing to how they start as shy children and leave ready to take on the world!! (well…kindergarten)

Teacher Laureen

(Monday-Friday Morning Classes)

Laureen is a wonderful addition to the teaching staff at Discovery Nursery School. Spending time with children every day does not feel like a job but more like a blessing. Watching them grow from the first day of school to the last day of school is amazing. I can honestly say this is my happy place.

Teacher Melanie

(Monday Wednesday Friday Morning and Monday Wednesday Afternoon Class)

This is my first year teaching at Discovery Nursery School and I am so excited to meet all of the children, families and get to know the staff. I have over 20 years of experience teaching preschool aged children and they have my whole heart! I love the wonder in their eyes and the candid ways they express themselves. I look forward to a fabulous year.

Teacher Claire

(Monday Wednesday Afternoon Class)

This is my third year being a part of the Discovery family. I spent 2 years as a parent, this will be my first year as a teacher. I am so excited to get to know your little ones and teach them new things. “Children see magic because they look for it”- Christopher Moore
